Motor Valley

Ferrari, Maserati, Ducati, Lamborghini, the Emilia region is the real land of motors!

Emilia Romagna is one of the best known Italian regions in the world, for many reasons. Of course, we are thinking of the many culinary products which have become the region’s flags on an international level, such as prosciutto crudo, parmigiano reggiano, tortellini, balsamic vinegar, yet we are also referring to world-famous characters such as Luciano Pavarotti.
However, a special place is reserved to the world of motors. The relationship between the Emilia region and motors is a truly astonishing one: just think of how many exceptionally famous automobile and motorcycle companies are based in the region!

Your hotel in the heart of the Motor Valley

Our Bed & Breakfast option in Castelfranco Emilia is a great solution for visiting the Motor Valley; within a range of 25 km you can comfortably visit all the museums and automobile companies:

Ferrari

There really is no need to introduce one of the most famous brands in the world. Beside the Ferrari headquarters in Maranello (while visiting its perimeter, you may well catch a glimpse of the famous wind tunnel), you can also visit the Ferrari Museum in Maranello and the Enzo Ferrari House Museum in Modena and purchase a single ticket that is valid for both museums, connected by a special shuttle bus service; the shuttle bus departs every hour and a half and also stops at the Modena train station.

Lamborghini

Starting during the early post-war period, Ferruccio Lamborghini chose to change his company’s production from tractor parts to sporting vehicles, with results capable of thrilling automobile buffs. The Lamborghini Automobile plant was built in Sant’Agata Bolognese in 1963; in ’65 the legendary Miura was introduced, while the first Diablo was presented in 1990.

Maserati

Since ’39, the Maserati plant is located in Modena, less than 20 minutes from our hotel. The company moved here from Bologna, where the first Alfieri Maserati workshops had opened in 1914.
Besides its production line dedicated to coupé vehicles and spiders, one of the plants is dedicated to the Quattroporte, designed by Pininfarina in collaboration with Ferrari.

Pagani

In San Cesario sul Panaro, just 2 km from our hotel, you can visit the headquarters of Pagani, a company specializing in the production of rare and much beloved luxury sports cars. The production is centered upon the talent of Horacio Pagani and is extremely limited and exclusive, dedicated to lovers of top-level design.
You can visit the Pagani Automobiles atelier by booking a tour well in advance.

Dallara

Slightly further from our position, in the province of Parma (Varano de’ Melegari), are the headquarters of Dallara, which has designed and produced the safest and fastest competitive and commercial vehicles in the world, for the past 40 years.

Besides its car design activities, Dallara also lends important consultancy services  to some of the largest international automobile brands, such as  Alfa Romeo, Audi, Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and many more.

Ducati

Not just cars: the motor valley is the home of motorcycles too! Ducati is certainly one of the most important brands in this sector.
The company headquarters are located in Borgo Panigale, near Bologna; initially the company (founded in 1926) produced electro-mechanical parts, and only after the Second World War did it begin producing its first prototype of the "Cucciolo", a motor-driven bicycle.
Since then, Ducati has become a world-renowned firm, immediately associated with the very idea of motorbikes, especially thanks to the fame earned by models such as the Monster or the 996, which are true masterpieces and reference points in terms of design and mechanical functionality.

The land of motors, narrated by museums

A territory so rich in automobile and motorcycle houses obviously also offers museums and private collections to be visited, where you can discover anecdotes, historical facts and curiosities:

Ferrari Museum, Maranello
Ferrari House Museum, Modena
Righini Collection, Castle of Panzano in Castelfranco Emilia (here you can see the 1940-dated 815 model, the very first car built by Enzo Ferrari!)
Umberto Panini Historical Automobile Collection, Modena (one of the most complete Maserati collections in the world)
Stanguellini Museum of the Historical Automobile, Modena

There are many other private collections and museums to visit: don’t forget this is the Motor Valley! For further information and itinerary suggestions, don’t hesitate to contact us!
